am so thankful for my sweet family and the blessing they are to me!  I have been married to my High School Sweetheart, Jeremy, for 25 years.  He serves as the Youth Pastor at our church, and loves hunting and fishing.

We have two children ages 20 and 22 (I can’t believe they are that old. Time goes by too fast!). My daughter, Leah, is a Sophomore Education Major at Dallas Baptist University.  She’s has a running scholarship, so we love getting to travel to watch her at Cross Country and Track meets!

My 22 yr. old son, Cody, is the reason I began the strength training.  He was diagnosed with Epilepsy before the age of one, after having several 45 min. Gran-Mal seizures.  He has continued to have uncontrolled seizures ever since.  He typically has 1-2 Gran-Mals a day, and some nights 6-8.  We have tried every medication, VNS implant, Ketogenic Diet, and lots of prayer.  Sometimes after a seizure Cody needs to be carried, and this is where my little muscles weren’t doing the job! The strength training has made a huge difference in my ability to do things for Cody.  I also really believe staying in shape keeps me from rarely being sick, and having plenty of energy even when we don’t get much sleep because of seizures.

Cody is also mentally delayed and is at about the age of a 2-3 yr. old.  This is actually the more draining part for me.  He requires a lot of attention and help doing most basic needs. He’s been at this age range for about 20 yrs. now!  We have learned so much though from his life, and have been blessed beyond measure by his happy spirit.

We’ve definitely gone through some discouraging days, but our Faith is what gives us strength, hope, and joy in the midst of it all.  Several verses from the Bible have been a huge comfort to me:

Romans 8:28 “All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.”
1 Corinthians 12:9-10 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
